Technological heredity as the factor of reliability
Welding and the accompanying technological processes change initial properties of a constructional material and create local sites of stress concentration around of flaws. These changes should be considered as a technological heredity of welding manufacture. It is known, that of all welded seam can have some flaws and a key question is how many and what size are they?
In this paper the results of the analysis of distribution of the sizes of flaws in welds are given. The theoretical bases probabilistic fracture mechanics approach used for engineering critical assessments of welded connections are stated. The equations allowing giving a comparative quantitative estimation reliability of welded joints in view of a technological heredity of welding manufacture and reliability of inspection are given.
